WCAG 2.2 Candidate Recommendation (勧告候補)

W3C が勧告している WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) の次期バージョンである WCAG 2.2 が、Candidate Recommendation (勧告候補) として2022年9月6日に開示されました。

勧告候補ということで、盛り込まれる達成基準の内容は概ねこれでフィックスされ、最終的な勧告 (2022年末？) の前に、個々の達成基準の実効性を最終確認する段階となります。この記事では、WCAG 2.2 で新しく追加される (であろう) 達成基準を、取り急ぎの私訳でご紹介します。

Working Draft (2021年5月21日版) からの主な変更点

前回ご紹介した WCAG 2.2 Working Draft (2021年5月21日版) からの主な変更点 (達成基準の削除、レベル変更、新設、など) は、以下の通りです。

WCAG 2.2 で新しく追加される (であろう) 達成基準

以下の9つの達成基準が、WCAG 2.1 から WCAG 2.2 へのバージョンアップに伴い、新たに追加される予定です。

ガイドライン 2.4 Navigable / ナビゲーション可能

2.4.11 Focus Appearance / フォーカスの外観 [レベル AA]

(この達成基準は今回の勧告候補において「at risk」となっており、最終的に変更または削除される可能性があります。)

When the keyboard focus indicator is visible, one or both of the following are true:
キーボードのフォーカスインジケーターが視覚的に表示される場合、以下のいずれか、または両方を満たす。

  1. The entire focus indicator meets all the following:
    フォーカスインジケーター全体が、以下のすべてを満たす。
    • encloses the user interface component or sub-component that is focused, and
      フォーカスされているユーザーインターフェースコンポーネントまたはサブコンポーネントを囲んでいる。かつ、
    • has a contrast ratio of at least 3:1 between the same pixels in the focused and unfocused states, and
      同一ピクセルのフォーカス状態と非フォーカス状態との間で少なくとも 3:1 のコントラスト比がある。かつ、
    • has a contrast ratio of at least 3:1 against adjacent non-focus-indicator colors.
      隣接する非フォーカスインジケーターの色に対して少なくとも 3:1 のコントラスト比がある。
  2. An area of the focus indicator meets all the following:
    フォーカスインジケーターの面積が、以下のすべてを満たす。
    • is at least as large as the area of a 1 CSS pixel thick perimeter of the unfocused component or sub-component, or is at least as large as a 4 CSS pixel thick line along the shortest side of the minimum bounding box of the unfocused component or sub-component, and
      フォーカスされていないコンポーネントまたはサブコンポーネントの厚さ1 CSS ピクセルの外周と少なくとも同じ大きさか、フォーカスされていないコンポーネントまたはサブコンポーネントの最小境界ボックスの最短辺に沿った厚さ4CSSピクセルの線と少なくとも同じ大きさである。かつ、
    • has a contrast ratio of at least 3:1 between the same pixels in the focused and unfocused states, and
      同一ピクセルのフォーカス状態と非フォーカス状態との間で少なくとも 3:1 のコントラスト比がある。かつ、
    • has a contrast ratio of at least 3:1 against adjacent non-focus-indicator colors, or is no thinner than 2 CSS pixels.
      隣接する非フォーカスインジケーターの色に対して少なくとも 3:1 のコントラスト比があるか、2 CSS ピクセル以上の厚さがある。

2.4.12 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum) / 隠されないフォーカス (最低限) [レベル AA]

When a user interface component receives keyboard focus, the component is not entirely hidden due to author-created content.
ユーザーインターフェースコンポーネントがキーボードフォーカスを受け取るとき、コンテンツ制作者が作成したコンテンツによって、そのコンポーネントが完全には隠されない。

2.4.13 Focus Not Obscured (Enhanced) / 隠されないフォーカス (高度) [レベル AAA]

When a user interface component receives keyboard focus, no part of the focus indicator is hidden by author-created content.
ユーザーインターフェースコンポーネントがキーボードフォーカスを受け取るとき、コンテンツ制作者が作成したコンテンツによって、そのフォーカスインジケーターが一部たりとも隠されない。

ガイドライン 2.5 Input Modalities / 入力モダリティ

2.5.7 Dragging Movements / ドラッグ動作 [レベル AA]

All functionality that uses a dragging movement for operation can be achieved by a single pointer without dragging, unless dragging is essential or the functionality is determined by the user agent and not modified by the author.
ドラッグ動作を用いて操作する機能はすべて、ドラッグなしのシングルポインタで完遂することができる。ただしドラッグが必要不可欠である場合や、その機能がユーザーエージェントによって定められており、かつコンテンツ制作者が変更していない場合は除く。

2.5.8 Target Size (Minimum) / ターゲットのサイズ (最小限) [レベル AA]

The size of the target for pointer inputs is at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels, except where:
ポインタ入力のターゲットのサイズが 24 × 24 CSS ピクセル以上である。ただし、以下の場合は例外とする。

ガイドライン 3.2 Predictable / 予測可能

3.2.6 Consistent Help / 一貫したヘルプ [レベル A]

If a web page contains any of the following help mechanisms, and those mechanisms are repeated on multiple web pages within a set of web pages, they occur in the same relative order to other page content, unless a change is initiated by the user:
ウェブページが以下のいずれかのヘルプのメカニズムを含む場合、かつ、それらのメカニズムがウェブページ一式の中で複数のウェブページで繰り返される場合、ユーザーによる変更がなされない限り、それらは他のページコンテンツに対して、相対的に同じ順序で出現する。

ガイドライン 3.3 Input Assistance / 入力支援

3.3.7 Accessible Authentication / アクセシブルな認証 [レベル AA]

A cognitive function test (such as remembering a password or solving a puzzle) is not required for any step in an authentication process unless that step provides at least one of the following:
認知機能テスト (パスワードを覚える、パズルを解く、など) は、認証プロセスのどのステップにおいても、そのステップが以下の少なくとも1つを提供しない限り、要求されない。

3.3.8 Accessible Authentication (no exception) / アクセシブルな認証 (例外なし) [レベル AAA]

A cognitive function test (such as remembering a password or solving a puzzle) is not required for any step in an authentication process unless that step provides at least one of the following:
認知機能テスト (パスワードを覚える、パズルを解く、など) は、認証プロセスのどのステップにおいても、そのステップが以下の少なくとも1つを提供しない限り、要求されない。

3.3.9 Redundant Entry / 冗長な入力 [レベル A]

Information previously entered by or provided to the user that is required to be entered again in the same process is either:
同一のプロセスにおいて再入力する必要がある、ユーザーによって以前に入力された、またはユーザーに提供された情報は、以下のいずれかである。

以上です。今回の Candidate Recommendation (勧告候補) に対しては10月4日まで W3C WCAG の GitHub リポジトリでコメントが受け付けられており、Proposed Recommendation (勧告案) を経て最終的な Recommendation (勧告) として発効する見込みです。
